REAL TALK: my mattress f*^%ing SUCKS. You’re all going to be really disappointed in me. I’ve been putting off buying another new mattress because I literally just got this one less than a year ago and for the first month it seemed fine. Then, little by little, that nice squishy memory foam got way too squishy and I started waking up with back pain every morning.
Our spines get longer when we sleep and that’s one of the only times that our discs absorb nutrients and water to keep them fat and happy (they are non-vascular). So, if you’re waking up with back pain it’s likely to do with your mattress and or sleep position.
And I know this. Yet, I’ve ignored it because I didn’t want to buy another expensive mattress. BUT I’m done. I’m done having to “yoga my way out of pain” every morning because of this crappy mattress. My back feels amazing all day, and then I mess it up when I’m sleeping? Why am I doing this to myself?
So here I am, in a neck brace. Again. Unable to move my head. Trying to get my Upper back to release through some poses. I hope they are helpful to some of you out there with neck pain. The second pic is of L-shape handstand on a chair. This one can be nice to do for a little bit of neck traction and strongly standing the arms into the sockets. This one often times will be exactly what my neck needs move back into place.
Moral of the story. I’m done. I’m getting rid of this #pos mattress and I’m going to find one that works for #scoliosis and #backpain. Do any of you have ones that you love?
