Cooking for Ostara: Homemade Gulkand

Cooking for Ostara: Homemade Gulkand

April 02, 2021

BELOW IS A DELICIOUS RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE GULKAND, A TRADITIONAL INDIAN ROSE PETAL PRESERVE MADE WITH FRESH ROSE PETALS, PROVIDED BY MY SACRED SPINE TEAM MEMBER & REIKI MASTER, ARCHANA EDMOND.

Homemade Gulkand
- 2 cups of fresh edible rose petals
- 6 tsp of brown sugar
- 1 tsp of locally sourced honey

Gently wash the rose petals with water and let them air dry on a clean kitchen towel. Once the petals are fully dry, in an air tight glass jar, spread a layer of rose petals inside the jar followed by a layer of brown sugar. Repeat the process till you are completely out of rose petals. Add the honey over the top and close the jar.

Place the jar in the sun for 7-10 days retrieving it before sun down. Make sure to mix the mixture every other day with a wooden spoon. Store the jam in the refrigerator after the 7-10 days. The jam can last for a year.

This jam is delicious by itself or with bread or ice cream. As you create this jam release your intention into it. This jam is a great self-love portion.
